"Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate."
- John F. Kennedy
Dear delegates and MUN directors,
In an increasingly fragile world, where crises no longer arrive in isolation but intersect and intensify one another, we gather with purpose under the theme: “Polycrisis: Navigating a New Global Order.”
This year's DAIMUN invites us not only to understand the complex challenges facing our time, but to engage with them — boldly, thoughtfully, and collaboratively.
The concept of a polycrisis reflects the reality of our era: climate change deepens global inequality, economic shocks fuel political instability, and technological disruption tests the limits of regulation and ethics. In this tangled landscape, diplomacy is more than a tool — it is a lifeline. It demands from us not only skill and strategy, but empathy, resilience, and a relentless commitment to common ground.
Model United Nations provides us with a unique space to simulate what real leadership looks like — not leadership rooted in power, but in principle. Within these committees and corridors, we learn to listen, to disagree constructively, and to move beyond gridlock toward progress.
As delegates, your voices represent more than national positions — they reflect the conscience and creativity of a generation determined to shape a better world. Diversity of thought, inclusivity of perspective, and clarity of purpose will be your greatest assets as you work to address not one issue, but a world of interconnected ones.
As we step into the 22nd Edition of DAIMUN, let us reaffirm our belief in the values enshrined in the UN Charter — not just in word, but in action. Let us approach every debate with the awareness that the issues we discuss echo far beyond our committees. And let us carry forward the knowledge that diplomacy, even in its most imperfect form, remains humanity’s most powerful instrument for peace.
In the end, it will not be the accolades that define our conference, but the awareness we spark, the minds we move, and the unity we build. Together, in this space, we navigate not only a new global order — but the future we will one day inherit.
Warm Regards,
Shlok Agarwal
